Editing Vista Hosts file

In order to work around the self-protection of Vista files, theres an extra step needed to modify some files. In this case, the hosts file. The easiest way I’ve found is to use notepad in administrator mode:

  1. Right click on notepad and run as administrator
  2. Open C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
  3. Make your changes and save the file.
