Palm Beach IT Association – December

November 15, 2008

The November meeting for the Palm Beach IT Association we hosted Doug & Amado from SonicWall to talk about their new products, partner program, and how they fit into the Windows Essential Server solution. One thing they showcased which I thought was a great idea is the Live Demo site that lets you see and learn about their products first hand by getting to explore the configuration of real systems. I currently don’t use any of the SonicWall products but the live demo site is a great way to get to look at the products and get a better idea of what they can and can’t do rather than trying to read into marketing material that almost always tries to make things appear better than they are.

Currently working on a couple plans for the December meeting. We’re planning on having a special meeting in conjunction with the Miami & Broward group to host J.J. from the Microsoft TS2 team. He’s generously offered to come down and meet with us since there are currently no other MS events in the area this quarter.

Went to the TSO concert last night and it was amazing! What does this have to do with Tech….this was the first time I have seen the stage lighting & framework be used as part of the show. It was incredible to see how all of the lighting, rigging, fire cannons, and lasers were all integrated into the show. The normal little sound control area in the crowd looked like a small NOC with the amount of computers controlling everything. Don’t get me wrong I like my job but if I had a clue about how that worked I’d be applying for that job. Must be awesome to watch the concert at all the different arenas.
